Max needs to do with Jos what Lewis did with his dad, Anthony. Anthony was his manager until Lewis won his 2008 title, then took a step back once it became clear his son didn't need him anymore. Now he's supporting him from a distance. Jos meanwhile is a very different kind of dad. Anthony just wanted his son to be happy and succeed. Jos had a mid F1 career himself and is clearly trying to live vicariously through his son. I really think he sees Max as purely an extension of himself. Max needs to distance himself from him (professionally), or he will destroy RBR and harm Max' career

@@cpgm.2k Max pretty much got brought up by Jos. Of course he loves his mum and sister, but he spent most of his time with Jos. Apparently they didn't expect him to want to race but (somehow, I don't remember how) he got to have a go in a kart aged 3 and from that moment they had an absolutely hooked toddler with an obvious natural talent. (Having had 4 toddlers of my own, I know how hot headed they can be!) You can just imagine what went through Jos' mind.
Jos was a fine racer himself who had no luck with the way his F1 career went . He'd end up in teams just as they were heading downhill, etc. He clearly didn't want that to happen to Max, which is why he's been such a dick. I think he's overprotective. But I think it would definitely help Max if they could keep Jos out of the garage. He needs to have a bit more space. Having said that, Max left home aged 18 to move to Monaco (which is where his manager lives IIRC). That might speak volumes itself.

To add to the engine formula point: even if that doesnt happen and it stays an aero formula or a balance of both, current rumours suggest that if Max would leave for Merc, Adrian "the juggernaut" Newey is likely to join Mercedes. Which, if you think Max and RB are dominating now, is gonna be a whole different shitshow. Thats lapping the entire field territory of speculation.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's all about being loyal to Helmut rather than listening to Jos? There are some huge tensions inside RedBull Racing - it looked like Horner wanted to get rid of Marko last year but Austrians supported old man. Chirstian want to be like Toto and have some shares in RBR - at the end of the day he is responsible in huge way for their succes. If he won't leave the team it means he thinks that he is bigger than Max, Helmut and Newey. And lets remember that Max have special connection with Helmut so if RedBull decide to take Horner side and fire Marko - Max may go with him. Neither driver want to leave such dominant team but if there is one who could do it, it's Max. Personally I woud love to see Verstappen in diffrent car fighting with other drivers, now he have no competition due to such amazing car build by Adrian...

As an insider in the paddock, Gerhard Berger's view is an interesting one. He believes Horner is staying, Newry and Marko will be leaving, with Max then to join Mercedes.
The only other team newey would work for is Ferrari, he said as much in his book. BUT he also says he regrets not working with Alonso, who looks like he is headed to Merc.

The situation at Red Bull is very very sad. If this winning team is not, with or without Christian Horner, capable of sticking together as one team then the winning days are over. It is extremely sad to see a wonderful unit to fall apart and disintegrate before our eyes. We even run the risk of losing that wonderboy Max who all by himself made us glued to the tv-set,’ because he could decide that he has had enough and he does not want to be forced to function in such a toxic environment anymore.

If Max goes to Merc, Marko will (at least try to) sign Antonelli up for next year's RB. He'll have the "Well, they've got two top drivers at Merc already. They're not going to get rid of either of them. Look how long they held onto Bottas with Russell stuck in Williams" argument right there in front of him. It'll all depend on how much of a hurry the kid is in, and whether he does well enough in this year's F2.
If Max goes to Merc, Marko retires. I highly doubt he'd still have the appetite to stay with RB in that case.
By the way, Jos uses the word “explode” expressly referencing one of the Horner texts. It’s not fortuitous 😉
If Mercedes can get their hands on Adrian, then Max is pretty certain to follow and he'd take GP with him.

Obviously Adrian wants to create the best cars, so he needs the best driver, that is capable to drive a instable pointy car with to much oversteer to handle for all the other drivers.
All of this is just fucking crazy, this morning (in the States) was Jos-or yesterday I can’t remember-but it’s already to that point where we’re jumping teams. 5:18 Matt -- This confused me. What did you mean that Horner was not accepting the dismissal (and that that was baffling)? I understood that Red Bull had a process and it cleared Horner already. What is there then to dismiss him for? I get the noise, but what other productive way is there to quiet it, then? Or did I misunderstand (if so, kindly bear)?
When you have an investigation like this, one of the HR strategies is to encourage the person to resign and to leave with a golden handshake (money) and agreement on how to spin the story. It’s a nicer experience for everyone than a dismissal. It allows the person to save face while the company get rid of a problem. Someone like Christian would say no I’m not leaving this forcing RB to be obvious about terminating him.

But how I got was the investigation found Christian clear of the allegations. I guess unless that is indeed the HR strategy and indeed the ‘spin’ that Red Bull put forward while expecting Christian to then resign (to the likes of, yes, I am cleared, but to really make sure the atmosphere is healthy, I will resign.). I guess we’ll still have to see how this further develops.
Absolutely true. It’s the same in a lot of companies. If you have done something, ala gross misconduct, and you can get away with a resignation rather than a dismissal, it is the advisable option for all the obvious reasons.
Of course, this is all speculation on whether or not he was told he actually should resign.

Just wanted to ask: what are your thoughts on the fact that maybe Jos’s comments along with Helmut’s and the threat of Max going to Mercedes could all just be a power move/applying pressure to red bull and specifically Horner to leave.. like maybe there’s no intention for max to leave for Merc but by dabbling in these chats it might be enough to edge Horner out to save the day for the greater good at red bull? Not a chance, the worst that could happen is that Horner will be asked to leave and then Redbull will continue to dominate. Getting rid of Horner will also not suddenly mean that the car will become bad or that Max will lose his focus. Entertaining to speculate but not going to happen.

Charles has enough of Ferrari, jumps ship to Merc for 2025. RB implodes and Max jumps to the now vacant Ferrari seat to partner Lewis Hamilton…
It makes complete sense as Ford might decide not to participate in the 2026 venture (adventure) with Red Bull. Marco will be willing to go to Mercedes and take the role of Lauda (both Toto and Marco are Austrian). And even Newey could be interested to design the new Mercedes as he will like to make use of the vast know how of Mercedes in constructing a complete new car . Toto has also all the necessary financial means to convince Max and Newey. For F1 fans it is also a win/win situation as 2025 will be more of a challenge.
It also will give Horner the possibility to take over Red Bull with support of RedBull Thailand and start his own team.
Man, just imagine a 2025 season where Lewis is at Ferrari, Max at Mercedes, Nando and Carlos or Alex at Red Bull... And then 2026 rolls around with engine centric regulations :o
